ISTORIC PRESERVATION  OBAMA (or HPfO for short) is a grassroots network of people from the historic preservation and rehabilitation communities. We seek to promote the resurgence of America’s older and historic buildings by supporting Barack Obama for President.

As appealing as his Blueprint for Change is, it means little unless Senator Obama is elected President. The aim of HPfO is to marshal the enthusiasm of the historic preservation and rehabilitation communities for Senator Obama’s vision and turn it into concrete assistance in the presidential campaign.

Through a variety of avenues—from fundraising to voter education—HPfO participants can play a crucial role in propelling Senator Obama to victory. HPfO seeks to be the entity that leverages all of the many resources the historic preservation and rehabilitation communities can bring to bear on behalf of the campaign, while creating a sense of community among those involved.

In particular, HPfO has the following goals:

Outreach. We will publicize the preservation-friendly nature of the Blueprint for Change in order to educate preservation-minded voters.

Fundraising. We will work hard to raise $55,000 in new money for the Obama campaign from members of the preservation community.

Volunteerism. We will identify those members of the historic preservation and rehabilitation communities who are supportive of the Obama campaign and link them to the campaign.

Community. Through our activities, we will develop a politically oriented community of people who care about historic preservation and rehabilitation.

In addition, HPfO will serve as a resource for the Obama campaign on issues of historic preservation and rehabilitation, sustainable development, affordable housing and heritage policy.
